Title : Geography Integrated Assignment

An earthquake occured on 12 October 1992 in Egypt, Cairo. The movement of the plates moving away from one another caused this disaster.

The earthquake measured between 5.5 and 6.0 on the Richter scale. 116 buildings were reported destroyed or badly damaged throughout Egypt. The earthquake had such a huge impact that buildings toppled, schools collapsed, and telephone lines were damaged. 370 people were killed, including more than 100 schoolchildren trampled to death during the confusion, and at least 3,300 people were hurt.
In response to the disaster, the government declared a state of emergency in the city and numerous rescuers were sent out to dig out the survivors of the earthquake.
In my opinion, the government should build more steady walls that would not collapsed easily in case there is an earthquake striking the country. Also, the government should also build a safe and steady shelter for the citizens to hide in during the occurence of natural disasters. However, they must make sure that the safety shelter would not collapse and that it would not be buried to an extent that there is no way out of it.
